Pharmacopuncture with a low dosage of B complex vitamins in the Da Zhui acupoint (Governing Vessel 14) for controlling gastrointestinal parasitism in periparturient ewes

Gastrointestinal parasites are a significant challenge in sheep farming, and periparturient ewes one of the most susceptible categories flocks. This study aimed to verify whether injection B vitamins at acupuncture point governing vessel 14 (GV14) can influence parasitic load or host parasite interaction naturally infected during peripartum period. Four weeks before parturition, 25 were divided into five treatment groups: (1) Dose Control: 0.2 mL complex via IM; (2) Drug 2 Complex (3) Acupoint Water GV14 point; (4) Control; (5) Test group: point. Treatments performed -3, -1, 2, 4, 6 about parturition time. Fecal samples estimate by fecal egg counts (FEC) total blood for hemogram examination seven days after treatment, coinciding with -2, 3, 5, 7 The number peripheral eosinophils was higher group 3 than 1 (p <0.05). Although groups 5 had lower mean values FEC hematological time weaning, these differences not statistically (p> 0.05) according F test. However, all animals maintained low parasitism levels until end experiment. Further studies should be larger sample sizes minor changes experimental protocol elucidate role acupoint stimulation host-parasite relationship.
